Refurbishment of the industrial monument

Situation

The unique locomotive circus in Potsdam-Babelsberg is being transformed into a modern office location. Between 1899 and 1976, numerous locomotives were manufactured in the hexagonal main hall under the 20 metres high Schwedtler dome roof with a span of 48 metres. Now, the striking building will be completely renovated and expanded to 16.000 m² usable area. The future user will be the main customs office with 540 employees.

After years of vacancy, the building is now to be completely refurbished and extended with a new building.
We were asked to handle the entire project, from the planning and production of special designs to the professional water pressure tight installation of supply lines into the building.

Solution

The KRASO technical department created corresponding production documents for the required items as special design. These were used to produce various KRASO FLS hoses, hose connectors, spacers and cable penetrations KDS 150 in special lengths at our site in Rhede and delivered on-site. The Flexible Empty Pipe Systems KRASO FLS were then concreted and connected to the building in a water pressure tight manner using KRASO Cable Penetration KDS 150.
